We are seeking a skilled QA Engineer focused on back-end systems to lead API testing efforts for a key client project. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the functionality, performance, and stability of RESTful services through both manual and automated testing approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, run, and maintain test cases for API endpoints, covering functional, integration, and regression scenarios.
- Test RESTful APIs to verify correct behavior, response accuracy, data formatting, and error handling.
- Write and manage Postman collections, including pre-request scripts, test assertions, and environment configurations.
- Automate API test execution using Postman, Newman, or equivalent tools to support continuous integration workflows.
- Validate data flow and integration points between backend services and external systems.
- Log defects clearly and work alongside developers to diagnose, reproduce, and resolve issues.
- Help refine testing methodologies and increase automation coverage across the API suite.
- Collaborate with development teams to align on requirements and ensure robust, testable backend designs.
Requirements
- Proven experience testing backend APIs and distributed systems.
- Solid grasp of REST principles and HTTP protocols, including status codes, headers, and request methods.
- Hands-on experience with Postman for creating and running API tests.
- Familiarity with test automation using Newman or similar command-line tools.
- Ability to write and maintain both manual and automated test cases for APIs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to identifying and isolating backend defects.
- Clear and concise documentation of test results and issues.
- Effective communication skills for working in cross-functional environments.
- Conversational or higher proficiency in English.
