Role Overview
As a QA Automation Engineer II, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of backend systems through both automated and manual testing strategies. You'll collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to shape testability early in the development cycle, especially within API-centric and distributed service environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review API specifications and technical designs to assess testability, identify edge cases, and flag integration risks.
- Partner with developers to determine which test scenarios are best suited for automation during feature development.
- Design and run advanced test cases focused on backend logic, data consistency, asynchronous workflows, and service interactions.
- Build and maintain automated test suites for RESTful, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs, verifying response accuracy, schema validity, authentication, and error handling.
- Enhance and support existing backend test frameworks using tools such as Pytest, Locust, or RestAssured.
- Generate clear test reports that highlight quality trends and potential risks in each release cycle.
- Log, analyze, and follow up on defects until resolution, working across teams to ensure timely fixes.
- Champion automation by supporting manual testing efforts and advising on ways to reduce repetitive work through smarter tooling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 4–6 years of hands-on QA experience, with a focus on backend systems, microservices, and API testing.
- Proven ability to build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for server-side applications.
- Proficiency in Python or another object-oriented programming language.
- Direct experience testing REST, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or Locust.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, code coverage analysis, and continuous testing practices.
- Experience developing test plans, writing test cases, and executing tests within Agile environments.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, and experience with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience using Git, Jira, and TestRail for version control, issue tracking, and test management.
- Strong analytical skills, precision in execution, and the ability to operate independently in fast-moving teams.
- Fluent written and spoken English with clear communication skills.
