As a QA Engineer II, you will take ownership of quality assurance for key product areas, driving comprehensive testing strategies that span both user interface and backend services. Your work will ensure reliable, high-performing releases across web and mobile platforms through rigorous validation and proactive risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute detailed test plans and cases covering UI and backend components, including APIs, microservices, workflows, and data integrity.
- Conduct functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing across multiple platforms to uncover edge cases and critical defects.
- Lead structured exploratory testing sessions to identify high-risk areas and improve test coverage.
- Review product requirements and user stories to verify clarity, completeness, and testability before development begins.
- Apply risk-based testing principles to prioritise efforts on critical functionality, complex integrations, and areas with high failure impact.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to detect gaps early and elevate overall product quality.
- Log, track, and validate defects with clear reproduction steps, ensuring timely resolution and verification.
- Maintain accurate records of test progress, results, and coverage metrics to support release decisions.
- Contribute to test planning, estimation, and coverage analysis to ensure strong release readiness.
- Advocate for quality throughout the development lifecycle and help refine QA processes and best practices.
- Support automation initiatives by identifying opportunities to expand test coverage using modern tools and frameworks.
- Stay current with evolving QA methodologies, tools, and industry trends to maintain technical relevance.
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least four years of hands-on QA experience with proven expertise in both UI and backend testing. You must demonstrate a solid grasp of testing methodologies, test planning, and coverage analysis. Experience with API testing tools like Postman, writing SQL queries for data validation, and defect tracking in Jira or similar systems is essential.
Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are required to collaborate across cross-functional teams. You should also be capable of mentoring junior QA members and promoting quality-first practices. Familiarity with automated testing concepts and a willingness to support automation efforts are important.
Preferred Skills
- ISTQB or equivalent certification
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Nightwatch, or Selenium
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab
- Basic proficiency in Java or JavaScript
