About the Role
The position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based systems using AWS services, with a focus on automation, reliability, and security. The engineer will collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline deployment pipelines and improve system performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage AWS cloud environments for high availability and scalability
- Implement infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- Automate deployment processes with CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues
- Enforce security best practices across cloud infrastructure
- Optimize cloud resource usage to control costs
- Collaborate with software teams to support application deployment
- Maintain documentation for systems and configurations
- Respond to incidents and support on-call rotations
- Integrate logging and alerting solutions
- Manage identity and access policies in AWS
- Support compliance with security and audit standards
- Upgrade and patch cloud systems as needed
- Evaluate new tools and technologies for operational improvements
- Ensure disaster recovery and backup procedures are effective
- Work with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Configure load balancers and routing for application traffic
- Use scripting languages to automate routine tasks
- Participate in technical design reviews
- Improve system observability through metrics and tracing
- Support migration of legacy systems to cloud platforms
- Maintain network configurations in virtual private clouds
- Coordinate with external vendors when required
- Follow agile development practices
- Ensure changes are deployed with minimal service disruption
Nice to Have
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or similar certification
- Experience with large-scale enterprise systems
- Background in franchise or multi-location business operations
- Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance such as HIPAA or PCI
- Experience with multi-account AWS strategies
- Hands-on work with Kubernetes in production
- Contributions to open-source projects
