As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and maintaining cloud infrastructure for a variety of client projects. Working entirely remotely, you’ll leverage your expertise to automate deployment workflows, strengthen system reliability, and ensure secure, efficient software delivery across complex environments.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement automated solutions for infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and configuration management.
- Build and manage cloud environments that are scalable, secure, and optimized for cost.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate best practices and streamline delivery processes.
- Apply security-first principles across systems and advocate for compliance with industry standards.
- Diagnose and enhance existing platforms, especially those with inconsistent or partial implementation.
- Engage directly with clients to understand technical needs, constraints, and risk tolerance, then translate those into actionable plans.
- Communicate tradeoffs and technical recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adapt quickly to evolving requirements and incomplete information, delivering pragmatic yet maintainable solutions.
- Track time and deliverables accurately to support project planning and client billing in a professional services setting.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 7 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure roles.
- Proven ability to design and support cloud platforms, preferably on Azure or AWS.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and automated deployment pipelines.
- Strong grasp of CI/CD architecture and pipeline optimization.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in distributed, production-grade systems.
- Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders in a technical capacity.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of outcomes, and drive projects to completion.
Nice to Have
- Background in consulting or professional services.
- Familiarity with the .NET ecosystem.
- Experience creating consistent DevOps patterns across multiple teams or projects.
- Knowledge of FinOps and cost optimization strategies in cloud environments.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership.
Technology Environment
You’ll work across a broad stack including Azure and AWS, infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, CloudFormation, and Pulumi, and CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, and Travis CI. Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python, C#, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go is expected. You’ll also use GitOps, trunk-based development, and version control via Git or SVN. Networking components include Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, ZTNA, and Global Secure Access. Monitoring and observability are supported by Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, New Relic, and Datadog. Security tooling includes SonarQube, Trivy, Open Policy Agent, Azure Policy, Azure Management Groups, and Defender. Systems run on Windows, Linux, and Unix with access controls via Azure Bastion. Backup and disaster recovery are handled through Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery, with high availability ensured via Availability Zones and Azure Front Door. NGINX is used for web serving and reverse proxy.
