Sword Health is hiring a Backend Engineer to contribute to the core systems that power our digital health platform. This role is open to candidates based in Portugal for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and security
- Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering standards
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience developing and maintaining production backend systems
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language
- Experience with database design and API development
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
