Synchrony is hiring a VP, Privileged Secret Server Product Owner

Lead the evolution of enterprise Privileged Access Management by shaping strategy, governance, and technical execution for one of the most critical components of the organization’s cybersecurity posture. This role is responsible for advancing the PAM program with a focus on risk-tiered remediation, automated lifecycle controls, and integration with IT service management and monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term roadmap for PAM capabilities, emphasizing credential lifecycle automation, session monitoring, and privileged account discovery across cloud, database, and infrastructure environments.
  • Oversee the implementation of risk-based control frameworks to strengthen accountability, compliance, and audit readiness across privileged identities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to integrate PAM with ITSM platforms and security analytics tools, enabling automated workflows for incidents, changes, and access reviews.
  • Collaborate with Identity & Access Management, Security Operations, and Audit teams to align priorities, report on program metrics, and execute enterprise-wide security initiatives.
  • Establish governance policies and approval workflows tied to risk levels, ensuring timely remediation of high-risk access while maintaining operational continuity.
  • Mentor and guide technical analysts, fostering team development and maturity in PAM delivery and operational support.
  • Translate business and security requirements into actionable deliverables using Agile methods, including backlog management, user story development, and blocker resolution.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates must bring over 10 years of cybersecurity experience with a strong foundation in Identity & Access Management (IAM), including hands-on work with Privileged Access Management, MFA, SSO, RBAC, or directory governance. Experience leading complex, cross-functional security programs is essential.

  • Proven ability to lead through influence, build stakeholder alignment, and deliver outcomes without direct reporting lines.
  • Experience using ITSM platforms operationally—across service catalog, incident, change, and reporting functions—to support audit compliance and process standardization.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical metrics and strategic direction to senior leaders in security, audit, and IAM governance.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and meet regulatory requirements, including background checks, fingerprinting, and compliance with Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no visa sponsorship is available for this position.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role based in CA, NY Metro, or Seattle. Employees may work remotely near one of the company’s Hubs but are expected to commute regularly for in-person meetings, training, and team events. The organization supports flexibility while maintaining connection to business objectives and culture.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary ranges from $155,000 to $260,000, adjusted for local market conditions in high-cost areas. The role is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Benefits include support for career development, inclusive employee resource groups, and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

The company is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
