Role OverviewWe’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical direction across multiple product domains including clinical and member experiences, care delivery, and cloud infrastructure. In this senior individual contributor role, you’ll drive complex initiatives from concept to production, ensuring alignment across engineering, product, design, and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-team technical efforts, guiding architecture and implementation across services and squads
- Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact projects that span multiple systems and domains
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and clinical leaders to define clear technical strategies from ambiguous problems
- Design scalable APIs, data models, and integration patterns that accelerate future development
- Ensure systems are built for reliability, with strong SLOs, monitoring, incident readiness, and performance at scale
- Incorporate testability and observability into system design, including unit, functional, and contract testing
- Instrument features with meaningful analytics using Mixpanel, ensuring consistency across products
- Partner with data and product teams to build dashboards that reflect real user and clinical outcomes
- Lead post-mortems and drive systemic improvements after incidents
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and pair programming
- Define and maintain engineering standards for code quality, architecture, and documentation
- Balance high engineering standards with iterative, experiment-driven delivery
Requirements
You bring 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on shipping user-facing products in production environments. You’ve led multi-team technical initiatives and have deep full-stack proficiency—especially in API design, UI development, and backend systems. You’re experienced with cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code, and you think holistically about tradeoffs in reliability, security, and cost.
You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners, and you lead effectively through influence. You’re comfortable making decisions in uncertain environments and enjoy mentoring others to raise team capability.
