Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural direction and long-term evolution of platform services in data ingestion and processing systems.
- Design end-to-end system architecture for complex features spanning multiple services, from data intake to downstream usage.
- Establish and enforce clear service interfaces, API contracts, and data exchange standards across teams.
- Create high-performance data ingestion pipelines capable of handling logs, telematics, and event streams at scale.
- Develop and refine both real-time streaming and batch data processing workflows for efficiency and reliability.
- Convert regulatory requirements related to hours-of-service and electronic logging into enforceable system logic and safeguards.
- Guarantee data integrity, message ordering, idempotent processing, and resilience to failures across distributed workflows.
- Set and monitor service-level objectives for response time, uptime, and data correctness.
- Promote and implement strong observability practices including logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, and actionable alerts.
- Architect systems with built-in mechanisms for backpressure management, graceful performance degradation, and automated recovery.
- Design efficient data models and partitioning approaches tailored to access patterns of frequently and infrequently used data.
- Choose optimal data storage solutions—such as relational, NoSQL, time-series, or object storage—based on scalability, speed, and cost considerations.
- Collaborate with Product, Data, Compliance, and Engineering teams to execute key domain projects.
- Lead technical design reviews, contribute to architectural proposals, and participate in cross-functional system discussions.
- Guide and mentor engineers in distributed systems design, platform architecture, and scalable engineering practices.
- Enhance code quality, documentation standards, and operational procedures across the engineering organization.
