Responsibilities
- Establish system architecture for the L4 trucking fallback system, defining integration points with perception, behavior, planning, control, and the main autonomy framework.
- Develop operational strategies for reduced capability driving scenarios, minimal risk condition management, and escalation to remote human support.
- Define and evaluate detection algorithms that identify autonomy performance decline and initiate fallback protocols or remote operator engagement.
- Collaborate with engineers in behavior, planning, and perception to ensure safety-critical logic and motion paths comply with fallback system needs and operational design domain limits.
- Design and improve communication interfaces between the vehicle software stack and remote assistance infrastructure to enable teleoperation and secure maneuver execution.
- Lead technical direction and mentor engineering talent during the development of the fallback system, shaping architectural choices across trucking and upcoming self-driving initiatives.
