About the Role
The position is responsible for evaluating energy and utility infrastructure proposals to ensure adherence to state siting laws, conducting technical reviews, and coordinating with agencies and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Review energy and utility project applications for compliance with state siting regulations
- Conduct technical evaluations of proposed infrastructure developments
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies during project review processes
- Prepare and maintain compliance documentation and reports
- Support interagency collaboration on energy project approvals
- Analyze environmental and land use impacts of proposed projects
- Provide recommendations on regulatory compliance to decision-making bodies
- Respond to public inquiries regarding project reviews and compliance status
- Attend meetings and hearings related to energy project siting
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant statutes and regulatory changes
- Track project milestones and deadlines throughout the review lifecycle
- Assist in developing guidance for applicants navigating the siting process
- Evaluate project modifications and amendments for regulatory adherence
- Facilitate communication between project developers and regulatory staff
- Ensure consistency in application of siting rules across cases
- Contribute to policy development related to energy infrastructure oversight
- Participate in training sessions on regulatory procedures and updates
- Use geographic information systems (GIS) for project mapping and analysis
- Support public engagement efforts during project review phases
- Maintain accurate records in departmental databases
- Prepare correspondence and official notices related to compliance status
- Identify potential conflicts with existing land use or environmental protections
- Work with legal staff to clarify regulatory interpretations
- Promote equitable treatment of all applicants throughout the review process
- Assist in emergency response planning for utility infrastructure incidents
