Canva is hiring a Full-Stack Engineer to lead backend architecture for our AI agent, context, and tooling conversational experience platforms. You will design scalable backend solutions for 150M+ users, platformize core AI architecture into reusable components, and work within the Canva AI Group under the Generative AI Supergroup.
What You'll Do
- Lead the backend architecture that powers Canva AI’s agent, context, and tooling conversational experience platforms.
- Initiate ideas to platformize Canva AI architecture into reusable building blocks for all engineers to leverage.
- Design and implement robust, scalable backend solutions for a global user base.
- Enhance platform flexibility for seamless integration of internal APIs and external LLMs.
- Drive measurable improvements in platform latency, reliability, and uptime.
- Champion engineering excellence by mentoring peers and uplifting technical standards.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to continuously refine the product vision.
What We're Looking For
- A product-minded engineer with a track record of initiating new product features and platform capabilities.
- A hands-on, full-stack engineer with a backend focus in Java and a strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and bring clarity through decisive action and systems thinking.
- Experience leading strategic, high-impact backend projects in complex environments.
- Passion for AI and exploring how emerging technologies shape better user experiences.
