We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to play a key role in advancing our next-generation water purification systems. This position focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical control systems that power our industrial-scale environmental technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design control system layouts and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD or comparable software
- Develop and maintain PLC logic and HMI interfaces for pump skids, automated valves, sensors, and related equipment
- Collaborate with suppliers to specify components and oversee electrical panel fabrication
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot control software across multiple system iterations
- Conduct pre-energization verification and support startup procedures
- Diagnose and resolve field issues related to electrical and control subsystems
- Train team members in fundamental configuration and diagnostic techniques
- Provide remote or on-site support during pilot deployments and system commissioning
- Lead initiatives to improve system safety, reliability, and operational efficiency
Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate broad technical proficiency and a practical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret performance data and propose effective solutions. A curiosity-driven mindset and willingness to work across disciplines are highly valued.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three years of relevant industry experience
- Familiarity with NEC (NFPA 70) and UL508A standards for industrial control panels
- Knowledge of IEC standards and 61131 programming frameworks is advantageous
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC platforms and CAD-based circuit design tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with occasional travel required for customer site visits and system startups. While travel is not frequent, the ability to respond to field needs when necessary is important.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000, with eligibility for equity options. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and enrollment in a 401(k) retirement plan.
