Shape the future of urban mobility as Director of Product Design, leading a talented team to build seamless, human-centered experiences across mobile, web, and agentic interfaces. You'll define the design vision for a rapidly evolving transit data platform, aligning strategy with execution to create products that are both powerful and easy to use.
What You’ll Do
- Translate product and business goals into a compelling design direction, communicating it clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to strengthen the product development cycle, emphasizing usability, impact, and thoughtful innovation.
- Lead design critiques and evolve practices around design systems, user research, and design operations to support scale and consistency.
- Set high standards for experience quality across platforms, ensuring coherence between native apps, web interfaces, and AI-driven workflows.
- Guide the team in balancing strong design principles with real-world feedback to maintain focus on solving meaningful user problems.
- Accelerate delivery by promoting early prototyping, collaborative iteration, and dev-ready assets synchronized with engineering timelines.
- Integrate AI tools into the design process to shorten feedback loops and enable rapid exploration without sacrificing clarity or intent.
- Advocate for users in executive discussions, bringing insights to life to influence product and company strategy.
- Support designer growth by fostering a culture of curiosity, constructive critique, and inclusive collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 10 years of product design experience, including 5+ years leading teams and shaping design at scale.
- A strong personal design practice combined with a genuine passion for mentorship and team development.
- Proven success in building B2B or B2B2C products that meet consumer-level expectations for usability and delight.
- Experience hiring, coaching, and growing designers across career levels, from concept through launch.
- Track record of scaling design organizations and systems within complex, cross-functional environments.
- Deep familiarity with multi-platform design systems spanning mobile, web, and API-driven interfaces.
- Expertise in simplifying data-rich applications into intuitive, trustworthy experiences.
- Hands-on experience designing AI/ML-powered features that users understand and rely on.
- Exceptional communication skills—able to distill complexity into clear, persuasive narratives.
Technical Environment
AI prototyping tools, design systems, user research platforms, mobile and web frameworks, and API integrations.
Work Model
This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work remotely across the U.S. or in Ontario and British Columbia, Canada. Occasional in-person gatherings—1–2 per year—are expected. The company supports distributed collaboration with a flexible, inclusive approach to work.
