Relativity is hiring a Data Engineering Manager

About the Role

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-performance data platforms within a modern lakehouse environment. You'll play a dual role—providing technical leadership while actively contributing to architecture, pipeline development, and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence
  • Guide the team in establishing and refining engineering standards, code quality, and operational reliability
  • Drive the evolution of scalable, observable, and secure data systems aligned with governance and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with Product, Analytics, and Applied Science teams to shape data roadmaps and deliver impactful capabilities
  • Participate directly in development, architecture discussions, and platform improvements
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders on progress, risks, and technical trade-offs
  • Oversee budget planning and resource allocation to support team objectives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years managing data or software engineering teams
  • Proven experience building and operating large-scale data processing systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Hands-on knowledge of lakehouse technologies such as Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg
  • Familiarity with platforms like Databricks or Snowflake
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, software engineering best practices, and system reliability
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience in performance management, process improvement, and project leadership

Preferred Background

  • Experience with distributed processing frameworks like Spark or Flink
  • Background in developing self-service analytics or internal data platforms
  • Understanding of data workflows in AI/ML model development
