Shell was looking for a Commercial Gas Operator

Shell is looking for a Commercial Gas Operator to join the Shell Energy Singapore Operations team, responsible for the day-to-day management of commercial gas activities. You will play a key role in optimizing value across the LNG value chain while ensuring strict compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Manage gas demand, LNG cargo scheduling, terminal and pipeline capacity, gas nominations, and LNG inventory.
  • Develop forecasting tools and provide operational solutions to free tank capacity for short-term opportunities.
  • Investigate operational issues to prevent profit leakage.
  • Ensure contract and regulatory compliance while negotiating with stakeholders to resolve operational gaps and improve value.
  • Maintain adherence to Shell’s internal standards, HSSE requirements, and all contractual, licensing, and regulatory obligations, including correct and timely billing.
  • Analyze buyers’ gas offtake, monitor nominations and schedules, and optimize LNG inventory and cargo deliveries to maximize commercial flexibility and value.
  • Build and sustain strong engagement with terminals, suppliers, buyers, regulatory bodies, pipeline operators, vessel owners, and broader energy-market counterparts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues across the LNG value chain.
  • Coordinate daily activities and design or update business processes and procedures.
  • Provide operational input for new projects, contracts, and spot cargoes.
  • Operate nomination systems and manage after-hours duties.

What We're Looking For

  • Knowledge of LNG industry concepts, Singapore’s gas and power market, and pipeline networks.
  • Experience with Gas Sales Agreements, LNG SPAs, Terminal Use Agreements, and the Singapore Gas Network Code.
  • Strong commercial awareness of LNG trading, terminal operations, and inventory management.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency with the ability to manage and analyze large data volumes and complex IT systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent relationship-management and communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond flexibly to requests out of normal office hours, including periodic or scheduled work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
