The Test Engineer will act as the D448 Lab Manager within the Combat Weapons Systems Facility Management Group, overseeing laboratory hotel services for the VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class Submarine programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring lab infrastructure supports ongoing development and testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the setup and upkeep of lab support systems across all CWS laboratory locations
- Gather and analyze technical requirements from engineering and integration teams to ensure proper implementation
- Partner with facilities, security, IT, fire safety, and transportation teams to execute lab modifications and maintenance
- Address complex technical and construction challenges related to submarine systems
- Conduct operational testing, execute test plans, and assess system performance data
- Maintain a functional prototype environment for hardware and software development
- Coordinate with engineers, technicians, government representatives, vendors, and military personnel to support project goals
- Support resolution of fleet-reported technical issues through engineering analysis
- Evaluate obsolescence risks and assist in modernization initiatives
- Ensure compliance with physical and information security protocols, including proper labeling and handling of equipment
- Manage logistics for equipment movement and support material verification for special property requirements
- Prepare status updates, performance metrics, and project schedule analyses
- Assist in planning tasks, identifying schedule conflicts, and tracking progress to support on-time delivery
- Be available for occasional second-shift work as operational needs arise
Qualifications
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience in project coordination, facilities operations, or U.S. Military service. The ability to obtain and retain a Department of Defense security clearance is required.
Prior experience in shipboard construction or support roles within a defense manufacturing environment is preferred.
