Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) is hiring a TCU Connectivity Architect

About the Role

Define and evolve the T-Box and connectivity architecture for current and next-generation vehicles in China, ensuring long-term scalability, security, and alignment with both regional needs and global engineering standards. This role shapes the technical direction of vehicle-to-cloud communication systems, focusing on future readiness and system integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system-level architecture for T-Box and connectivity solutions, covering in-vehicle networks, cloud interfaces, and over-the-air update mechanisms (FOTA/SOTA).
  • Lead protocol design across domains, including in-vehicle communication (CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP) and external connectivity (LTE, 5G, eSIM, TCP/IP, MQTT).
  • Ensure compliance with Chinese and international regulations, including data privacy laws (PIPL, GDPR), cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434), and functional safety (ISO 26262).
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, regulatory groups, and global headquarters to align technical roadmaps, promote reuse of proven concepts, and maintain synergy across regions.
  • Guide internal teams, suppliers, and partners in implementing secure, efficient solutions, resolving technical challenges, and adopting best practices in embedded systems and connectivity.

Qualifications and Expertise

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in telematics, connected vehicle systems, or ECU architecture. A minimum of 5 years in a system architect or technical lead role is required, with demonstrated success delivering T-Box systems to production in China.

Essential knowledge includes in-vehicle networks (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS), connectivity protocols (TLS, HTTP/2), OTA update frameworks, cybersecurity mechanisms (secure boot, HSM, TEE), and RF technologies (4G/5G, WiFi, satellite). Fluency in both English and Mandarin is mandatory. Familiarity with global vehicle development programs is advantageous.
