Amgen Inc. was looking for a Strategic Planning & Operations Director, US Marketing, Obesity and Related Conditions

At Amgen, we are looking for a Strategic Planning & Operations Director to support the Vice President of US Marketing for Obesity and Related Conditions (OaR). In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for direct VP support, team operations, and cross-functional facilitation to drive our mission of serving patients.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with planning the initial team structure build, including candidate selection and interviews.
  • Ensure VP preparedness for key meetings and decisions; proactively align with stakeholders, manage follow-up, and develop high-quality executive-level presentations.
  • Handle communication and facilitate requests with cross-functional team members within the US Marketing OaR organization.
  • Chair weekly Integrated Brand Team (IBT) meetings in collaboration with the VP.
  • Develop key presentations and prepare for governance body participation, including goal-setting, brand planning, go-to-market updates, and budget coordination (LRS, LRP).
  • Assist with special projects, which could include go-to-market planning, cash-pay models, and external partnerships to support launch excellence.
  • Help build the culture and community within the larger team.

What We're Looking For

  • A Doctorate degree and 4 years of commercial experience.
  • OR a Master’s degree and 7 years of commercial experience.
  • OR a Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of commercial experience.

Nice to Have

  • US commercial experience at Amgen, ideally on a launch product, in marketing, sales, market access, or patient support services.
  • Additional ex-US commercial experience.
  • Additional commercial experience in the consumer goods or health industry.
  • Positive can-do attitude, quick learner, proactive, and takes initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, active listening, and relationship management skills.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Goal-oriented and results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion and interface effectively with all levels, including senior management.
  • Ability to understand, plan, and navigate in a matrix and, at times, ambiguous environment.
  • Creativity and foresight in anticipating and solving complex project issues.
  • Awareness of and ability to navigate Commercialization and Corporate Governance processes.

Team & Environment

You will be supporting the Vice President (VP) of US Marketing, Obesity and Related Conditions (OaR), and facilitating across therapeutic areas and cross-functional partners. You will report directly to the VP.
