About the Role

Lead and deliver complex client projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, serving as the main point of contact while ensuring high-quality outcomes. You'll diagnose operational challenges, develop actionable insights, and guide teams to close performance gaps in sectors such as Mining, Oil & Gas, or Chemicals, or within functional domains like Operational Risk Management and Operational Excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply deep industry and technical knowledge to assess trends, evaluate new technologies, and recommend improvements that create measurable value.
  • Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and emerging patterns within your area of expertise, contributing to the development and refinement of intellectual property.
  • Develop and share thought leadership through publications, internal training, and external presentations, including dss+ Points of View.
  • Supervise project execution, ensuring quality deliverables, effective governance, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Mentor junior consultants on project management best practices, client engagement, and solution delivery.
  • Structure complex problems to generate clear insights and recommendations that influence client decision-making, even in challenging environments.
  • Lead client meetings to drive alignment, manage change, and build trust with senior stakeholders.
  • Support business development by contributing to proposals, defining project scope, and helping expand the client base through targeted outreach.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify new business opportunities and strengthen the sales pipeline.

Qualifications and Skills

You bring a Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, along with 7–10 years of client-facing experience in consulting or industry. Prior work in established consulting firms is essential. You excel in strategic planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong project management and analytical abilities, with proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Experience managing time and priorities effectively in fast-moving environments.
  • Familiarity with business development processes and revenue generation activities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Excel, Access) and project collaboration tools such as Asana, JIRA, or Confluence.
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field is an advantage, as is specialized technical knowledge in areas like risk management or innovation.
