About the Role

The Staff Accountant, OPEX will play a key role in managing operational expense reporting and analysis, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly reporting for operational expenses across departments.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with precision and on schedule.
  • Support accurate and timely month-end close processes.
  • Analyze expense trends and identify variances from budget or forecast.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure proper expense classification.
  • Assist in improving financial reporting systems and processes.
  • Maintain documentation for accounting procedures and audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulatory standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to operational spending.
  • Contribute to the development of internal financial policies.
  • Track and report on cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist in audits by providing necessary financial records.
  • Monitor accruals and adjustments for accuracy.
  • Provide support during budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive accounting tasks.
  • Ensure consistency in expense reporting across business units.
  • Work closely with payroll and HR on related expense items.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Escalate financial risks or anomalies promptly.
  • Support special projects related to financial operations.
  • Improve data integrity across financial systems.
  • Train team members on expense reporting best practices.
  • Standardize reporting templates for efficiency.
  • Ensure timely resolution of interdepartmental financial queries.
