Position Overview
Join a specialized engineering team responsible for integrating and maintaining secure, mission-critical systems within Department of Defense environments. This role demands technical precision, deep knowledge of secure infrastructure, and the ability to operate effectively in high-compliance settings. You will lead integration efforts across hybrid and cloud platforms, ensuring systems meet stringent security standards while remaining operationally resilient.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical authority in systems integration, guiding design, deployment, and validation across secure environments
- Configure and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in compliance with DoD security baselines, including STIGs and SRGs
- Implement and manage AWS cloud services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and CloudFormation in integrated on-prem and cloud architectures
- Develop automation scripts in Bash and Python to streamline provisioning, integration, and operational tasks
- Design and maintain Ansible playbooks for configuration management, system hardening, patching, and repeatable deployments
- Build, test, and manage system images, installation packages, and deployment pipelines to ensure consistency and control
- Conduct verification and validation of system builds, deployment procedures, and technical documentation
- Identify and resolve configuration defects, deployment issues, and compliance gaps
- Produce and update system documentation, including standard operating procedures, build guides, and integration workflows
- Support continuous monitoring initiatives, including configuration compliance and patch management
- Partner with security teams to enforce secure configurations and uphold system accreditation posture
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CASP+)
- 12 years of relevant engineering experience in complex, secure environments
- Proficiency in RHEL administration, including services, networking, SELinux, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC)
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation and tooling
- Experience with Ansible, including playbook and role development
- Track record of applying and remediating DISA STIGs in Linux environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code principles
- Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems in high-security contexts
- Proven skill in translating security policies into technical configurations
- Excellent communication abilities for cross-functional collaboration
- Capacity to work independently in mission-driven, classified environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and their application in encryption and key management

Work Environment
This is an onsite position located in Annapolis Junction, MD, within a secure facility. The role may require occasional travel to client sites, labs, or field locations. Work is conducted in a standard office setting with access to classified systems and secure development environments.
