About the Role

Roblox is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Assessment Tools Team. In this role, you will architect and build game systems, backend services, and tools for game-based cognitive assessments used in Roblox's own hiring process. You'll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, stable, and engaging experiences that provide an unbiased and efficient screening mechanism for applicants.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate across many disciplines to build game-based cognitive assessments in Roblox Studio to run on the Roblox platform.
  • Build and maintain backend systems and APIs in service of these assessments.
  • Mentor other engineers as well as non-technical team members.
  • Architect and build systems and user facing features in support of building assessments.
  • Become an expert on our technology stack and ensure we build new components and applications in a scalable and robust manner.
  • Work closely with live-ops and the rest of the technical team to maintain a high-stakes, always-on product.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience working as a software engineer.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages across front and back end development.
  • A Full Stack Software Engineer who can work across different languages and stacks.
  • Proficient in writing readable, extensible, testable, and well documented code.
  • A strong technical contributor that can translate requirements into scalable architecture and code.
  • A highly collaborative team member with the ability and willingness to work across disciplines to determine what’s best for the product.
  • Curious with an interest in understanding the scientific side of cognitive assessments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing game systems and architecture.
  • Experienced with game engines like Roblox, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.

Team & Environment

You'll work in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of learning experts, game designers, UI designers, 3D artists and software engineers.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $153,120—$196,750 USD
  • Eligible for equity compensation

This is a hybrid role based in San Mateo, CA.
