As a Senior Workday Platform Engineer, you'll lead the design and implementation of scalable Workday solutions that support Canva’s fast-evolving organization. You’ll take ownership of high-impact system changes from concept through to release, ensuring technical integrity and alignment with business goals. Your work will directly influence the reliability and scalability of internal HR systems, enabling teams to operate efficiently and effectively.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end solution design for complex Workday initiatives, identifying edge cases and ensuring robust, maintainable outcomes
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver technically sound and user-focused configurations
- Apply deep expertise in Workday HCM, Compensation, Time Tracking, and related tools to solve real-world challenges
- Guide best practices in security groups, business processes, calculated fields, and condition rules across the platform
- Support agile delivery by embedding strong engineering principles and release management into team workflows
- Use AI tools to enhance productivity, improve system design, and increase impact across the platform
- Help shape long-term platform direction by identifying risks, simplifying complexity, and promoting reusable design patterns
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of direct Workday experience, with strong knowledge of core modules including HCM, Compensation, or Time Tracking
- Proven track record leading two or more full-cycle Workday implementations, managing technical complexity and stakeholder alignment
- Experience with agile methodologies and productivity tools that support asynchronous collaboration
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to work independently across time zones
- A proactive mindset—comfortable navigating ambiguity and resolving interdependencies
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others, uphold design quality, and contribute to team culture
- Hands-on experience applying AI to improve system design, automation, or operational efficiency
- Familiarity with payroll integrations is a plus
