About the Role

This role involves building and maintaining complex software systems that power real-time communication tools used by developers and businesses worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define technical requirements
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
  • Optimize systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design
  • Ensure code quality through automated testing and continuous integration
  • Support on-call rotations for critical service incidents
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Work with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
  • Implement security best practices across software components
  • Integrate third-party services and external APIs
  • Monitor system health and respond to alerts
  • Drive improvements in observability and monitoring tools
  • Participate in incident post-mortems and root cause analysis
  • Contribute to documentation for internal and external use
  • Support deployment pipelines and infrastructure automation
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Experience with real-time communication protocols
  • Contributions to open-source software projects
  • Prior work in a developer-first product company
  • Familiarity with Twilio’s platform or similar APIs
  • Experience in high-availability service environments

  • Background in observability and SRE practices
  • Leadership experience in technical projects
  • Exposure to global infrastructure and multi-region deployments
