Join a high-performing mechanical engineering group focused on advancing the reliability of next-generation virtual and mixed reality hardware. In this role, you'll shape how devices withstand real-world conditions by designing and leading comprehensive test strategies at both system and component levels. Your work will span the full product lifecycle, from early research to final validation, ensuring robust performance under demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement reliability test plans for electro-mechanical systems, covering thermal, vibration, humidity, shock, and ingress protection scenarios.
- Lead testing operations in-house and coordinate with external labs to verify product durability and compliance with international standards.
- Generate detailed reports and executive summaries that translate test outcomes into actionable engineering insights.
- Collaborate with design teams during development phases to integrate reliability principles early, including Design for Reliability reviews and component qualification.
- Conduct root cause analysis on failures and lead corrective actions across design and manufacturing processes.
- Establish and refine internal testing methodologies, ensuring alignment with IEC and MIL-STD requirements.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in reliability testing of consumer electronics, wearable tech, or optoelectronic devices.
- Direct experience operating environmental chambers, vibration systems, and IP test setups.
- Strong grasp of FMEA, HALT/HASS protocols, and statistical reliability models such as Weibull and MTBF calculations.
- Proven ability to design and commission custom test equipment and expand lab capabilities.
- Fluent in English and experienced in cross-functional collaboration with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
- Preference given to candidates with an established network of external testing partners.
Work Environment
This position is based in Helsinki at the company headquarters in Kaisaniemi, where collaboration with physical prototypes is central to the role. Remote work is not feasible due to hands-on testing requirements. The culture emphasizes technical ownership, minimal hierarchy, and open communication within a diverse, international team. Daily operations are conducted in English, supporting a globally integrated workplace focused on innovation through varied perspectives.
