Lead the technical design and engineering of innovative products from initial concept through to full production. This role plays a central part in solving complex mechanical and electro-mechanical challenges, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and manufacturability standards. You'll take ownership of CAD development, prototyping, and verification processes, while driving continuous improvements in quality, cost, and consumer value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical problem-solving across product development cycles, both independently and within cross-functional teams
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, with opportunities for formal leadership
- Define and validate user requirements, functional needs, and design criteria in collaboration with global teams
- Own the full design lifecycle—concept, modeling, prototyping, testing, and verification—with precision and speed
- Optimize designs for high-volume manufacturing, focusing on injection molding, material selection, and cost efficiency
- Apply deep knowledge of high-voltage systems, including insulation, thermal management, and electrical safety compliance
- Conduct risk assessments using FMEA, DFMEA, and HAZOP methodologies to ensure robust, reliable designs
- Collaborate with engineering, product development, and executive teams across the U.K., U.S., and China
- Ensure designs meet certification standards including IP ratings, dielectric strength, and thermal runaway testing
- Produce detailed 2D drawings, specifications, and manage BOMs with strong GD&T understanding
Qualifications
Candidates should have at least five years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering, with a solid foundation in high-voltage environments. Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo is required. Experience in injection molding and materials such as PPS and PAGF is essential. Familiarity with environmental testing—thermal cycling, vibration, humidity, and impact—is expected. Knowledge of GD&T is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in London, offering flexibility between in-office and remote work. The position operates within a fast-paced, innovative culture that values bold thinking, inclusivity, and personal growth. Team members are encouraged to challenge norms, collaborate across functions, and contribute to market-disrupting products.
