As a Senior PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer, you will play a key role in resolving advanced database challenges for large-scale clients. You'll collaborate directly with customer DBA teams to diagnose and resolve critical production issues using tools like Patroni, pgBouncer, barman, and Kubernetes. Your work will involve deep analysis of performance bottlenecks, replication failures, and configuration inefficiencies across PostgreSQL and MySQL environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve complex database issues using systematic troubleshooting methods
- Conduct real-time support sessions via screen sharing for urgent production incidents
- Deliver clear, technical findings through written communication and verbal updates
- Develop and publish technical content including blog posts and knowledge base articles
- Engage with the open-source community by answering forum inquiries and sharing insights
- Contribute to internal expertise by mentoring peers and advancing team capabilities
What You Bring
You have extensive hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL, including ecosystem tools such as pgvector, repmgr, pglogical, and ProxySQL. You're proficient in Kubernetes—deploying, managing, and debugging containerized database workloads. Your background includes Linux system administration, performance tuning, and query optimization using modern SQL constructs like Window functions and recursive CTEs.
Familiarity with advanced debugging tools such as gdb, perf, strace, and tcpdump is essential. You’re self-driven, continuously expanding your knowledge as database technologies evolve. You’re comfortable working remotely, using Slack, Zoom, and similar platforms to collaborate effectively across time zones.
