The Senior Platform Architect ensures the technical success of customer implementations by owning the journey from initial purchase to stable production. This role establishes operational standards, enables teams through training and guidance, and drives long-term platform health, scalability, and reliability for effective Temporal adoption.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical owner throughout the customer lifecycle, from onboarding to production stability
- Accelerate time-to-production by guiding the launch of the first production workflow
- Define and enforce best practices for reliability, failure handling, scaling, and system upgrades
- Train developers in Temporal SDK usage and mentor platform architects on server and SDK best practices
- Implement proactive alerting systems to detect and resolve issues before customer impact
- Resolve high-severity technical issues and support customers on complex production challenges
- Identify and eliminate onboarding obstacles early to prevent escalations
- Collaborate with customers to optimize system performance and reduce operational costs
- Develop and execute KPI-based success plans aligned with production outcomes
- Establish standards for architectural patterns, training, governance, and operational readiness
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Professional Services, Support, Partners, and internal teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
- Proactively manage technical risks, system migrations, and architectural debt
- Define and validate standards for system reliability, observability, and operational health
- Monitor system health indicators and intervene before issues affect customers
- Lead technical reviews, readiness assessments, and maturity evaluations
- Certify teams and workloads as production-ready
- Identify opportunities for platform expansion based on usage and maturity signals
- Collaborate with customers and technical teams to enable new workloads
- Translate technical achievements into narratives that support renewals and growth
- Advocate for customer needs and real-world use cases within the product and engineering teams
Requirements
- Minimum of six years of professional experience in software engineering or solutions engineering
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, workflow orchestration, and reliability engineering
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Java, TypeScript, or Python
- Proven experience deploying and operating large-scale production systems
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide customers to resolution
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience developing technical documentation, runbooks, and training content
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer engagements and team events

- Experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration platforms
- Familiarity with observability tools and practices for distributed systems
- Background in technical consulting, professional services, or solutions engineering
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and infrastructure-as-code tools

Compensation
The estimated pay range for this role is $200,000 - $225,000 OTE, with a 70/30 base-salary to variable compensation split. Equity in the form of stock options is available under the company's equity plan.
Work Arrangement
Global remote work with occasional travel for company events, team offsites, and in-person meetings.
