About the Role
This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations in the U.S., ensuring accuracy, compliance with local regulations, and timely delivery. The expert will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues and improve payroll processes.
Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll for U.S. employees with precision and on schedule
- Verify payroll data inputs including hours, wages, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Support year-end payroll reporting including W-2 preparation and filings
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to align payroll data with broader systems
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. payroll legislation and tax requirements
- Assist in audits by providing accurate payroll records and documentation
- Troubleshoot employee inquiries related to pay, taxes, and deductions
- Implement and test payroll system updates and enhancements
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive employee compensation data
- Coordinate with third-party payroll providers when applicable
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll workflows and reduce errors
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes involving payroll setup
- Track and report on payroll metrics and key performance indicators
- Assist with payroll for multi-state employees and complex tax scenarios
- Maintain documentation for payroll policies and procedures
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to compensation systems
- Ensure proper classification of workers for payroll purposes
- Support payroll during mergers, acquisitions, or organizational changes
- Provide backup support for other payroll team members
- Stay current with industry best practices in payroll administration
- Escalate critical payroll issues to management in a timely manner
- Contribute to training materials for payroll processes
- Promote accuracy and accountability within payroll operations
