Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for a Senior Manager, Data Platform Engineering to lead the evolution of a growing data ecosystem from startup-level operations to enterprise-grade scalability. You will oversee a team of data engineers and analytics professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture while driving technical excellence, operational rigor, and innovation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the Data Platform team, building a high-performance culture and ensuring career development opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable data engineering processes and pipelines, balancing speed with quality and minimizing technical debt.
  • Oversee data ingestion, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and self-service reporting solutions from diverse sources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define strategies, roadmaps, and best practices that align the data ecosystem with business goals.
  • Ensure operational excellence, system performance, and reliability of critical data applications, tools, and infrastructure.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise-grade standards for data quality, governance, security, and observability.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative environment that prioritizes team growth, inclusion, and impact.

What We're Looking For

  • BA or MA in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field with expertise in modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and real-time data processing.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing and mentoring high-performing data teams.
  • 5+ years of experience working with healthcare data, including familiarity with compliance, regulatory requirements, and data governance.
  • 3+ years of experience in agile environments, driving iterative development and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to implement scalable data engineering frameworks, processes, and best practices.
