The Senior Database Engineer will play a key role in shaping the data infrastructure by developing efficient, scalable systems that power business insights. You'll design and maintain data pipelines using modern cloud technologies, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement ETL/ELT workflows to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources using SQL and cloud-based tools.
- Collaborate with product, executive, and analytics teams to resolve technical challenges and fulfill data requirements.
- Optimize SQL queries and database structures for speed, scalability, and maintainability.
- Lead improvements in data delivery by automating processes and refining data architecture standards.
- Conduct code reviews, perform unit testing, and troubleshoot database issues to ensure system integrity.
- Establish best practices for modeling, naming conventions, and secure database development.
- Support dashboard creation through exploratory analysis and structured data preparation.
- Provide technical guidance to scrum teams and contribute to agile planning and solution design.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12 years of experience in database engineering or related roles.
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or Azure Synapse.
- Strong background in ETL/ELT tools including DBT, StreamSets, or SnapLogic.
- Familiarity with OLAP systems and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with data ingestion, cleaning, deduplication, and pipeline optimization.
- Knowledge of query performance tuning and index design.
- Understanding of SQL security features including encryption, signed procedures, and role-based access control.
- Experience using version control systems like Git or Azure DevOps.
- Working knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
Preferred Skills
- Experience mapping source systems into entity-relationship models.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases and real-time data replication.
- Background in CI/CD automation and scripting with Python or Golang.
- Exposure to visualization platforms like Power BI or Tableau.
