About the Role
This position involves leading the development and integration of custom automation solutions to support engineering processes, improve system reliability, and streamline software toolchains across complex technical environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable automation frameworks for engineering systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify tooling needs
- Develop software solutions to reduce manual processes and human error
- Integrate automation tools with existing development and testing pipelines
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in tool performance and reliability
- Document technical designs and system functionality
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows
- Ensure tools comply with security and regulatory standards
- Optimize existing automation scripts for performance and maintainability
- Mentor junior developers in best practices for software development
- Evaluate emerging technologies for potential automation improvements
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions
- Maintain version control and configuration management systems
- Produce technical specifications from engineering requirements
- Drive improvements in software quality through automated testing
- Work with stakeholders to refine tooling requirements
- Ensure compatibility of tools across multiple platforms
- Monitor system performance and report on automation effectiveness
- Contribute to agile planning and sprint execution
- Support deployment and post-deployment validation of tools
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in computer science or engineering
- Experience in aerospace or defense-related software systems
- Background in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
- Familiarity with DO-178C or similar standards
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink toolchains
- Knowledge of functional safety standards
- Leadership experience in software tool development projects
- Contributions to open-source automation projects
- Experience with static analysis tools
- Understanding of model-driven development
