Join a small, high-impact team building perception systems for autonomous mobile robots used in real-world freight logistics. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining the full sensing and perception pipeline, enabling robots to interpret dynamic environments through LiDAR, cameras, and fused sensor data.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement core components of the perception stack, including object detection, semantic segmentation, localization, and mapping
- Integrate and calibrate sensors such as LiDAR and depth cameras on production robot platforms
- Process and filter 3D point clouds to ensure reliable performance in challenging conditions
- Develop and maintain sensor fusion systems that combine data from multiple modalities for robust environmental understanding
- Build and manage datasets for training, validating, and testing perception models
- Collaborate with navigation, controls, and hardware teams to align perception outputs with system requirements
- Diagnose and resolve perception issues using logs, recorded data, and on-site testing
- Support CI/CD workflows for automated testing and deployment of perception software
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience developing perception systems for physical robots in industry settings
- Strong coding skills in C++ and Python
- Proven expertise in LiDAR processing—including filtering, clustering, registration, and SLAM
- Hands-on experience with camera-based perception systems
- Production experience with ROS or ROS 2
- Experience calibrating sensors (intrinsic, extrinsic, multi-sensor setups)
- Familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow for machine learning in perception tasks
- Track record of deploying software to robots operating in real environments
- Strong debugging skills and experience working directly with hardware
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in a fast-paced, small-team environment
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
- Experience with AWS IoT, Greengrass, or similar edge-cloud platforms
- Background in logistics, warehousing, or freight operations
- Experience using Gazebo or other physics simulators for sensor modeling
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity in an early-stage robotics company
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Flexible time off policy
- Work that directly influences shipped products in a small, collaborative team
- Opportunity to build robots that operate in production—not prototypes
Work Environment
This role is hybrid, with options for remote work supported by reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace. Periodic travel to the Atlanta facility is required for hardware integration, testing, and team collaboration.
