Responsibilities
- Creates and manages quality assessment systems for transforming raw materials into finished or semi-finished products.
- Works closely with engineering and production teams to establish and uphold quality benchmarks.
- Develops inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for product and equipment accuracy and precision.
- Evaluates inspection and testing procedures, tools, and systems; conducts quality assurance assessments and statistical reviews to determine root causes and financial impact of non-conforming materials or products.
- Performs audits of quality systems to detect and correct deficiencies.
- Verifies that corrective actions meet reliability requirements and that all documentation follows regulatory and internal standards.
- Specializes in areas such as product design, incoming materials, production monitoring, product validation, reliability, inventory management, or R&D as related to process or product quality.
- May hold certification in lean and Six-Sigma quality improvement methodologies.
- Could manage a unit’s Performance Excellence project portfolio, ensuring alignment of improvement initiatives like DMAIC, Lean, or DESIGN with strategic business objectives.
- Supports and mentors project leads and supervisors in selecting and executing improvement projects; advises leadership on effective use of quality tools and techniques.
- Applies standard methods to evaluate data or situations where solutions are straightforward and well-defined.
- Applies engineering principles to ensure product and process integrity, focusing on design criteria, test methods, and minimum quality thresholds.
