This role is responsible for advancing quality performance across manufacturing and engineering operations. The Quality Engineer will lead efforts to identify, analyze, and resolve critical product and process issues impacting customers and internal operations. Working closely with engineering, production, purchasing, and supplier teams, the individual will ensure timely resolution of quality concerns and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams to resolve top customer-facing quality issues and ensure timely closure of action items
- Conduct root cause analysis using mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to support problem-solving efforts
- Monitor and interpret key performance indicators related to customer issues, including response and resolution times
- Analyze build process data to identify recurring failures and lead improvement projects such as commissioning fixes and field failure reduction
- Investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs), determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Support compliance through internal audits, process assessments, and adherence to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to refine processes, procedures, and product designs
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure consistency and quality
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) teams with quality planning and process controls
- Facilitate PPAP submissions and lead Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis using tools like Minitab
- Retrieve and analyze customer issue data from digital portals to guide improvement strategies
- Lead business process re-engineering efforts to enhance efficiency and product quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or a related technical field
- Minimum of five years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing setting, with customer-facing responsibilities
- Proven ability to analyze data, detect trends, and determine root causes of quality issues
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with statistical analysis software
- Ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams and cultural backgrounds
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency and confidence in making cross-functional recommendations
- Willingness to travel occasionally for domestic and international business needs
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience supporting complex technical products
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus
