The Operations Specialist will join the Flight Control team, using meteorological data and operational judgment to guide smart weather balloons through the atmosphere. This part-time, fully remote role requires U.S. citizenship due to involvement in U.S. defense-related operations.
Responsibilities
- Master the operation of smart weather balloons to ensure precise atmospheric navigation
- Build deep operational expertise to make timely and effective decisions during flights
- Assess weather conditions to determine safe flight paths, deciding when to avoid or proceed through turbulent areas
- Adjust flight plans in real time to account for inaccuracies or changes in weather forecasts
- Guide balloons to extreme operational boundaries to test and extend hardware performance
Requirements
- Self-driven learner capable of adapting in an environment where best practices are continuously evolving
- Able to prioritize tasks and make sound judgments under pressure in uncertain conditions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Capable of collaborating effectively with engineering teams
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, to support mission objectives
- U.S. citizenship required due to work involving U.S. defense operations
- Must have a reliable internet connection
