Target Enterprise Inc is hiring a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to drive personalized recommendations on Target.com and the Target App. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing production machine learning solutions, creating a maintainable codebase, and partnering across teams to translate business needs into ML systems at scale.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize production machine learning solutions for personalized recommendations.
- Create and maintain a well-tested, maintainable codebase with relevant documentation.
- Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practice software design.
- Conduct training sessions and present work to technical and non-technical peers and leaders.
- Build knowledge on business priorities and strategic goals to inform requirements and solutions.
- Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to translate business requirements into ML solutions at scale.
- Mentor and develop junior team members' ML skillset and careers.
What We're Looking For
- A 4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
- 5 plus years of experience in end-to-end Machine Learning application development including data pipelining, model optimization, deployment and API design.
- Highly proficient programming in Python and either PySpark or Scala.
- Experience with ML frameworks such as Pytorch, TensorFlow, xgboost, sklearn or ONNX.
- Experience with ML Ops and cloud ML services such as Vertex AI, Azure ML, or Sagemaker.
- Experience using distributed training frameworks like Spark, Ray, or TensorFlow Distributed.
- Experience with serving frameworks such as TorchServe, TensorFlow Serving, or FastAPI.
- Good understanding of Big Data tech - specifically Hadoop, Spark and Kafka.
- Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated model testing and deployment.
- Extensive experience partnering with data scientists, software engineers and product managers to understand business requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly tell data driven stories.
- Self-driven and results oriented; able to meet tight timelines.
- Motivated team player with ability to collaborate effectively across global team.
Nice to Have
- A PhD or MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or equivalent work or industry experience.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members ML skillset and careers.
