Position Overview
This role supports policyholders following significant property damage, primarily from fire and water incidents. As a Large Loss Property Adjuster, you’ll conduct in-person evaluations at customer homes, assess structural and personal property damage, and prepare comprehensive estimates using industry-standard tools. Your work ensures claims are resolved accurately and in alignment with policy terms, while maintaining a supportive experience for customers during difficult times.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site inspections of residential properties to evaluate damage from fire, water, and related events
- Analyze insurance policies to determine applicable coverage and apply guidelines consistently
- Generate precise repair and replacement estimates using Xactimate and other estimating platforms
- Manage virtual claims across the U.S. through secure digital collaboration tools, including video assessments
- Communicate clearly and frequently with customers via phone, email, or video, using their preferred method
- Negotiate settlements with homeowners, contractors, and third parties using sound judgment and established protocols
- Maintain complete, accurate records in the claims management system throughout each case lifecycle
- Apply critical thinking to resolve complex coverage questions and unusual loss scenarios
- Use digital tools such as ClaimsX Video Collaboration to streamline remote evaluations and improve response times
- Deliver service that reflects core values of compassion, clarity, and customer advocacy in every interaction
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience investigating and adjusting property claims independently
- Proficiency with estimating software, particularly Xactimate
- Strong ability to interpret policy language and apply coverage determinations fairly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple channels
- Proven track record in managing high-severity claims from start to resolution
- Skilled in negotiation, with an understanding of legal and business standards in claims handling
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple cases efficiently
- Commitment to thorough documentation and adherence to compliance standards
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and conduct home inspections as needed
Work Environment
This is a field-based position requiring regular travel to customer locations in the Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC areas. While local in nature, the role also supports nationwide claims through virtual platforms, combining hands-on assessment with digital efficiency. Work is conducted independently, with access to technical resources and support networks to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes.
