Role Overview
As a High Voltage Technician III, you will lead technical efforts in the field, providing expert guidance during maintenance and repair operations on high-voltage systems. Your work supports the reliable performance of critical infrastructure at renewable energy facilities, including wind and solar plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical direction both onsite and remotely to field teams and client personnel.
- Develop detailed job planning documents using engineering drawings, instructions, and process specifications.
- Lead and supervise skilled technicians during field operations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in substations, with a focus on transformers, switchgear, protection relays, motors, and control systems.
- Conduct routine system checkouts and preventive maintenance across high-voltage equipment.
- Prepare technical reports, manage material orders, obtain vendor quotes, and finalize job completion documentation for clients.
- Support cost control through sound decision-making and efficient resource use.
- Uphold a rigorous commitment to safety in all operational environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Residency within 100 miles of Arlington, Oregon
- Certification in Basic Workplace First Aid
- Base hourly pay range: $31.68 to $42.20, with geographic adjustments of 110%, 120%, or 130% in designated areas
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proven background in high-voltage systems maintenance and repair
- Experience using test equipment and procedures for transformers, relays, circuit breakers, and underground splices
- Knowledge of pad-mounted transformer switching and substation operations
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and write switching orders
- Strong communication skills and experience mentoring junior technicians
- Track record leading field service teams in high-risk environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and SmartSheets
- Willingness to travel and adapt to changing work demands
Work Environment and Flexibility
This position requires residency near Arlington, Oregon, with regular travel to customer sites. Flexibility in scheduling and responsiveness to field needs is essential.
