Field Engineer – Dublin / Leinster Region
Role Overview
This position supports the ongoing performance and reliability of IT and RF systems used in emergency service operations. You'll work directly in the field, maintaining equipment installed in emergency vehicles and control centres, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on IT and radio frequency systems using approved procedures and quality guidelines
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults in MDTs, TETRA networks, routers, and associated connectors
- Accurately complete site reports and documentation within required timeframes
- Respond to out-of-hours callouts as part of a rotating support schedule
- Monitor system performance to identify potential issues before failure occurs
- Escalate recurring problems and coordinate third-party involvement when needed
- Manage return material authorisation (RMA) processes for faulty components
- Ensure all work meets health and safety requirements, including working at height when necessary
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience maintaining IT and RF equipment in emergency response environments
- Background in supporting MDTs, TETRA, routers, and RF/IT cabling
- Understanding of wireless and wired network technologies
- Relevant technical qualification (HND/HNC/ONC) or equivalent field experience
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
- Valid full driving licence with readiness for frequent regional travel
Preferred Skills
- Experience with IP networking and RF signal analysis
- Familiarity with PCs, network infrastructure, and radio frequency products
Work Environment
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across Dublin and the Leinster region. Work includes vehicle-mounted systems, control centre installations, and occasional work at height. A company vehicle is provided to support mobility.
