This role supports the testing of embedded firmware in industrial automation systems, ensuring product reliability and performance. Working under the guidance of test leads, the engineer will interpret technical specifications and translate them into effective test strategies across multiple test cycles and types.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert functional requirements and design documents into structured test cases and test plans
- Participate in requirement reviews and provide feedback from a testing perspective
- Execute manual and automated firmware tests, including regression testing, system validation, and functional checks
- Enhance existing test suites by analyzing coverage and identifying gaps
- Develop and maintain test scripts and automation frameworks using Python and other scripting tools
- Investigate and document test failures, track anomalies, and verify fixes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver test reports and meet project milestones
- Support innovation initiatives to modernize test infrastructure using emerging technologies
- Contribute to safety, cybersecurity, and firmware-specific test activities throughout product lifecycles
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 1–3 years of hands-on experience in test engineering. Proficiency in manual testing across hardware, firmware, and software domains is essential. Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and continuous integration workflows is required, along with practical knowledge of test automation frameworks.
Programming skills in Python are expected, and familiarity with ladder logic programming is necessary. Exposure to industrial automation systems, particularly PLCs and HMI platforms, is beneficial. Prior experience with test lab setup, bug tracking systems, and Rockwell-related tools such as RSLogix5000 or Allen Bradley components is highly valued.
