Role Overview
As a Database Engineer II, you will play a key role in building and maintaining robust database infrastructure that powers our digital products. You'll be responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing both relational and non-relational databases in cloud environments, ensuring they are secure, highly available, and performant.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage database systems including PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora, and MongoDB
- Integrate database changes into automated CI/CD pipelines using tools like Liquibase, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
- Write and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for repeatable, reliable provisioning
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks to proactively detect and resolve performance or security issues
- Optimize query performance through indexing, execution plan analysis, and schema tuning
- Implement and maintain high availability, replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
- Collaborate with developers, SREs, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless and secure application integration
- Enforce data security policies including encryption at rest and in transit, key management via AWS KMS, and access controls
- Automate routine maintenance tasks to improve system reliability and reduce manual effort
- Lead investigations into complex production incidents and drive resolution through root cause analysis
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 5 years in database engineering or administration, with at least 3 years in cloud or DevOps-focused environments
- Deep experience with at least one major database platform (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora) and working knowledge of others
- Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as Liquibase, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- Strong familiarity with cloud platforms—AWS preferred, with Azure or GCP as a plus
- Understanding of database encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with Kafka clusters and event-driven data architectures
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of performance tuning in production systems

Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a salary range of $75,600 to $153,483, with eligibility for bonuses based on company and individual performance. Equity is not included in this role’s compensation package.

Work Environment
