Northwest Medical Center was looking for a Cyber Security Network Engineer

About the Role

Community Health Systems is looking for a Senior Cyber Security Network Engineer to design, engineer, and maintain advanced network security technologies. Reporting to the Manager of Network Protection, you will collaborate with enterprise Cyber Security and IT teams to safeguard critical infrastructure and data across a large, diverse healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in designing, engineering, managing, and recommending improvements for new and existing network security solutions.
  • Enhance preventative and automated network security controls aligned with business requirements to strengthen protection.
  • Assist in developing strategies for expanding network segmentation, implementing zero trust concepts, and increasing visibility into cybersecurity risks.
  • Assist in developing and improving standards and processes for the identification, prioritization, and remediation of threats.
  • Provide technical guidance on the impact of network security controls, driving issues to remediation and ensuring secure-by-design configurations.
  • Assist in developing and documenting an overall network protection strategy.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by cybersecurity leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience in Cyber Security, Firewall, Network, and Cloud Security Technologies.
  • Extensive experience working within a large healthcare system.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, Prisma Access, SD-WAN, NAC, WAF, Terraform, Cloud Armor, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Expert-level understanding of firewall architectures, network protection technologies, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and industry frameworks such as HIPAA Security Rule and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Network Access Control (NAC), Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
  • Terraform, Cloud Armor, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Team & Environment

You will report to the Manager of Network Protection within the Cybersecurity Risk Management Department, collaborating closely with Cyber Security and IT teams.
