Lead the visual and user experience design for sophisticated website initiatives, guiding projects from initial discovery through final launch. In this fully remote role, you’ll establish a clear creative vision, helping both clients and internal teams make informed, confident decisions grounded in user needs and accessibility standards.
What You’ll Do
- Design responsive, accessible digital experiences using wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity prototypes, and scalable design systems that ensure long-term consistency.
- Translate research findings and stakeholder input into actionable deliverables such as sitemaps, user journeys, and personas during facilitated discovery sessions.
- Present design concepts clearly and thoughtfully, articulating rationale in straightforward language while standing by your recommendations.
- Work closely with Content Strategists, Developers, and Project Managers to ensure designs are cohesive, technically feasible, and accurately implemented.
- Support business development by contributing design expertise during client pitches and sales conversations.
- Help strengthen industry presence through public speaking, webinars, and thought leadership initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- A portfolio showcasing responsive, user-focused web design with clear attention to accessibility, usability, and visual detail.
- At least five years of professional experience in web design, including three or more in an agency setting.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Google Workspace, with a solid understanding of modern design collaboration workflows.
- Ability to lead presentations, incorporate feedback constructively, and maintain design integrity across stakeholders.
- Experience managing multiple projects in agile or waterfall environments, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with front-end development principles and how design translates into code.
- Proven success working independently within a distributed team across North American time zones.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on coding experience in HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
- Experience with analytics platforms like GA4, heatmapping tools, or user testing software.
- Background working with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote contract position open to candidates in the United States and Canada. You’ll need to be available during North American business hours. Compensation & Culture
Contract rates range from $60 to $80 per hour.
