Role Overview
This position is responsible for ensuring that radio remote control systems used in industrial applications meet all applicable regulatory, safety, and certification requirements worldwide. You will play a central role in guiding products from initial design through to market release, ensuring full compliance with key directives and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead compliance activities for radio remote controls across the EU and international markets
- Interpret and apply regulations including EU RED (2014/53/EU), the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, EMC, LVD, and EN 62368-1, as well as product approvals in regions such as the US (FCC), Canada (IC), Japan (MIC), China (SRRC), and Brazil (ANATEL)
- Prepare and manage Declarations of Conformity and associated technical documentation
- Support the development of safety-related control systems in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 and -2
- Contribute to safety architecture design, including performance level (PL) and safety integrity level (SIL) justification, failure mode analysis (FMEA), FMEDA, and calculation of parameters such as MTTFd, DCavg, and B10d
- Support safety validation testing, documentation, and audit readiness
- Plan, coordinate, and observe testing for RF emissions and immunity, EMC, electrical safety, environmental resilience, and functional safety
- Act as the main point of contact with external test laboratories, Notified Bodies, and certification agencies
- Review test plans and reports, identify gaps, and lead corrective actions
- Maintain organized, traceable technical files ensuring alignment from requirements through design, testing, and final certification
- Support internal and external audits by providing evidence of compliance and traceability
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of experience in product compliance, safety engineering, or test validation for radio-based or industrial electronic systems
- Proven experience working directly with certification bodies and test laboratories
- Solid understanding of electronic design fundamentals
- Knowledge of RF and wireless regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with EMC, electrical safety, environmental testing, risk assessment, and safety documentation practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of functional safety standards such as EN ISO 13849
- Experience with radio remote controls or safety-critical control systems
- Exposure to ATEX or IECEx standards for use in hazardous environments
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles as applied to industrial systems (e.g., IEC 62443, EU Cyber Resilience Act)
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams across multiple global locations
- Ability to interpret circuit schematics and basic PCB layouts
- Hands-on experience with environmental and mechanical qualification testing, including IP ratings, vibration, drop, thermal cycling, humidity, and salt mist testing

Standards and frameworks include: EN 300 220, EN 301 489, FCC Part 15, EN ISO 13849-1/-2, FMEA, FMEDA, MTTFd, DCavg, B10d, EU RED (2014/53/EU), EU Machinery Regulation (2023/1230), EMC, LVD, EN 62368-1, and international market approvals (FCC, IC, MIC, SRRC, ANATEL).
Work Environment
This role supports a flexible primary location across multiple sites: Germany, Oklahoma (USA), Abensberg, or Milan. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary R&D teams, contributing to safety-critical product development from the earliest design stages. The position offers broad exposure to global regulatory landscapes and certification processes.
