About the Role

Carl Zeiss is hiring a Clinical Applications Specialist I (CAS) to support our ophthalmic instrument customers across a designated territory. In this role, you will be responsible for instrument setup, technician and doctor training, troubleshooting, and serving as the primary customer liaison for technical and administrative matters. You'll be instrumental in ensuring clinicians can effectively utilize ZEISS technology to advance patient care.

What You'll Do

  • Manage on-site trainings within your territory by independently contacting customers, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements, and addressing inquiries.
  • Communicate regularly with CAS in adjacent territories to coordinate trainings for customers near regional borders.
  • Serve as the customer's liaison to Carl Zeiss on both administrative and technical/clinical issues.
  • Converse regularly with Regional Sales Managers and Field Service Engineers regarding customer satisfaction or training issues.
  • Begin the process of learning to identify and communicate potential sales leads.
  • Prepare and submit applicable documentation, such as expense reports and Product Training Checklists, in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Maintain and continually update your knowledge on all appropriate Carl Zeiss products.
  • Adhere to the established 'CAS Responsibility' document.
  • Potentially set up and provide instruction on Carl Zeiss equipment at conventions and seminars.
  • Maintain currency of, and adhere to, applicable GMP and ISO 9001 processes and procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • At least three to five (3-5) years of experience in an ophthalmology clinic setting, the diagnostic ophthalmology industry, or comparable experience.
  • Knowledge of visual fields, lensometry, refractometry, and Biometry and/or fundus photography.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work with customers in challenging situations.
  • Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing data or situations from which answers can readily be obtained.
  • Basic skills in computers and accompanying software, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to travel overnight and work occasional weekends.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A valid driver's license.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of laser scanning technology.

Work Mode

This position is based locally within the United States, supporting customers in the states of WA, OR, ID, MT, and AK. It requires regular travel within this territory.
