The Chief of Staff plays a central role in advancing the mission and operational effectiveness of a rapidly scaling nonprofit focused on reshaping the utility regulatory landscape. Reporting directly to the Founder and Executive Director, this position ensures strategic priorities are translated into action, internal systems function efficiently, and leadership is well-supported in decision-making and external engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and facilitation of team meetings, including agenda development, documentation, and follow-up to maintain momentum and accountability
- Manage cross-functional workstreams, identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, and improve clarity across teams
- Oversee project management systems, including progress tracking, KPI development, and performance monitoring
- Support the design and execution of external outreach initiatives such as conferences, media engagements, speaking events, and strategic convenings
- Develop and maintain internal databases, dashboards, and CRM systems to enhance data-driven decision-making
- Integrate technology and AI tools to streamline workflows and improve organizational efficiency
- Prepare briefing materials, strategic memos, presentations, and internal communications for leadership
- Coordinate follow-up actions from executive engagements and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Support fundraising efforts by contributing to grant proposals, budgets, impact reports, and donor communications
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and professional development initiatives for team members
- Plan and execute team culture-building activities, including retreats and internal gatherings
- Represent the Executive Director in meetings when necessary and ensure alignment across departments
- Travel as needed to support leadership and organizational initiatives
