Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled System Architect to lead the development and integration of advanced autonomous vehicle systems designed for airport ground environments. In this role, you will work directly with leadership to define system architecture, ensure functional safety, and drive end-to-end deployment of reliable, high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the specification, validation, and rollout of dependable, safety-focused systems tailored to autonomous operations in complex airside settings
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to align on architectural direction and integration strategy
- Design scalable, maintainable system architectures that meet real-time performance and usability requirements
- Oversee full system integration, identifying and resolving architectural challenges early
- Conduct design reviews and evaluate trade-offs to balance performance, safety, and development speed
- Convert stakeholder inputs into structured system and subsystem requirements
- Establish and track key performance indicators to guide engineering decisions and system optimization
- Support risk analysis activities including FMEA and safety assessments
- Coach development teams in systems thinking, interface design, and best practices
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Minimum of five years designing and fielding complex, safety-critical integrated systems
- Deep understanding of embedded systems and integration workflows
- Proven track record creating and maintaining system documentation such as requirements, architecture diagrams, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Strong ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences across technical and non-technical roles
- Self-driven with a hands-on mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced, distributed team environment
- Excellent organizational skills and analytical reasoning
- Based near Atlanta with availability for up to 25% travel
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, ADAS, or similar systems
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or Enterprise Architect
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and industrial networking protocols
- Understanding of safety standards including ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, IEC 61508, ANSI B56.5, ISO3691, and ANSI 15.08
- Background in aviation, airline operations, or robotics safety
- Experience with airside operations at major international airports
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to automated ground vehicles
- Exposure to data science and statistical performance modeling
- Willingness to be based in or relocate to Atlanta

DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Enterprise Architect, real-time operating systems (RTOS), networking protocols, embedded systems, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), FMEA processes, KPI tracking, and established system architecture frameworks.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta, with flexibility for remote collaboration and up to 25% travel to support integration and deployment activities.
