Amgen Inc. is looking for an Associate Counsel to join its team supporting Southeast Asia (SEA). You will provide broad-based legal support to Amgen SEA's commercial, medical, value, access and pricing (VA&P), Compliance, and other business functions, including advice to country leadership teams. Your role will focus on managing legal risk, facilitating day-to-day contracting, and delivering targeted legal advice in a dynamic regulatory environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide legal support to commercial, medical, VA&P, Compliance, and other business functions in SEA.
  • Provide advice to country leadership teams.
  • Potentially support regional and global projects.
  • Assist in delivering a results-oriented, business-aligned legal support model.
  • Manage legal risk at the affiliate through templates, training, and guidance.
  • Monitor the external environment to proactively manage Amgen's legal risks.

What We're Looking For

  • Law degree from recognized university law faculty.
  • Qualified to practice law in a common law jurisdiction.
  • 6+ years of practice at a top law firm, corporate law department, or a combination.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Contract drafting skills and knowledge of general commercial law, labor law, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, judgment, maturity, and flexibility.
  • Strategic thinker and creative problem-solver committed to compliant success.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and provide high-level service across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a larger in-house legal team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in laws and regulations related to promotion and sales of biopharmaceutical products in ASEAN countries.
  • Experience as an attorney in a legal department of a multi-national company in biopharmaceuticals or healthcare.
  • Experience with relevant regulations and industry codes of conduct (e.g., PhAMA, SAPI, HKAPI).
  • Experience with distributor management, business development, and licensing in biopharmaceutical or healthcare sector in ASEAN countries.
  • General understanding of privacy laws, healthcare regulatory matters, anti-corruption laws, and intellectual property.
  • Management of outside counsel engagements and department budgets.

Team & Environment

You will report to the SEA Head of Law in Hong Kong and be part of a JAPAC regional Law Group of eight other lawyers.
